Lake Ontario Est 1615 Shirt
Lake Ontario Est 1615 Shirt commemorates Lake Ontario’s long history during the August 27, 2026 Lake America controversy, when President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing U.S. federal usage to change the lake’s name to “Lake America.”
The Est 1615 reference gives this design a historical focus. Étienne Brûlé is widely identified as the first European to reach the lake in the vicinity of present-day Toronto in 1615. The lake itself, however, has a much older Indigenous history, predating European arrival by thousands of years.
